I chose to create a flying machine.
We have Pet Day at Ohaeawai School every year and one of the activities we do is to create a symmetrical design on a saucer using flower petals. You put Vaseline on the saucer first to make the flowers stick. That’s why they are called Vaseline Saucers. Here is a pic of me with mine:
We have been learning about using apps on our Chromebook to create images that look like mosaics or stained glass windows. We used Google Draw to make some and some people also used Sumopaint. Yesterday, for maths we had to read a step by step procedure for making a 3D clock. It was very tricky. We had to measure in centimetres to make equilateral triangles, measure the angles with a protractor to check they were 60 degrees, make a clock face and arrows and tie it all together with string. I was glad when I finished. The clock hands were the hardest part. Here is a picture of my clock.

This was our first week in Lockdown Level 4 for 2021. All of our reading this week related to Insects. We did lots of different activities. Here is one page of my work.

In Week 8, Term 2 our school librarian, Mrs C, retired. On her last day, we put on a Book Character Parade. We dressed up in costumes like book characters and then we went on a parade through the Daycare Centre next to the school, past the shops in the village, along Hobson St and back up Tennyson St to the school.

Probably my worst Minecraft
experience.
Wow I haven’t done anything exciting except play Minecraft and if you do want to hear about it I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to write about it but if I am here it is.

It was Sunday afternoon and my mum loaded up Minecraft. Once we were in the world we started to mine but this time I didn’t get pushed into lava by water. While we were in the mines I found an axolotl and took it up to the surface.

Once we were back on the surface we decided to make a tank in our river. My mum dug up sand and I was fighting monsters and animals for food. But the monsters that attacked us the most were drowns (their zombies that drowned) . They can spawn with tridents and can drop whatever they’re holding.

It took a few days and we used like three stacks of sand for the glass.We had to keep going back for sand and back and forth for glass. Minecraft days are ten minutes which took almost an hour. Once we finished we went to get buckets of fish for food for my axolotl. He's cute when he’s swimming around eating the fish.
Conclusion
We got killed a lot in this process. The drowns with the tridents are one of the most dangerous water creatures.
In Week 9, Term 2 , we had a day of activities based on Matariki. We got sorted into groups and did rotations. Most of us got to do 2 different activities but some only did one activity if it took a long time. I chose to take part in: Tin can art and paper plate stars
In Week 8, Miss Fletcher gave us a science lesson about Matariki. If stars twinkle was the experiment. It was easy and fun. I liked it. We had to write some notes about it. Here is my work:
In Week 7, we went outside and looked at the old wooden playground to see if we could think how to write about it using personification. This week my reading group did a slide about Matariki because we have been learning about Matariki. Well, one of the tasks was about matching English words to Maori words. Here is my work:
We did some coding with robots this week to vist all the Matariki stars in one go. I got a video of mine and my friends one going around to see the stars if you like it thank you but if you don't please go away please okay if you did thank you. I couldn't find the video sorry.
This week we made stuff about Matariki and flax stars. We had to cut the flax from the bottom of the bush you'll know why when you read my presentation. It was fun and challenging and I learned something new.
